Kern County, California (Bakersfield, CA) – On October 29, 2023, in a single-vehicle collision, Ruben Jimenez, 57-year-old, suffered injuries, and Rosa Lidia Jimenez, 59-year-old, and Celia Jimenez, both died on HWY-99 and Olive Drive in Bakersfield, CA.
The two women were riding in the southbound 2003 Ford that Ruben Jimenez was driving on HWY 99. It was reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle after making an improper turn. Before it flipped, the Ford veered off the road and struck a wooden signpost. The backseat passenger was ejected and died on the spot, and when paramedics arrived, they discovered that the two front passengers had suffered serious injuries.
The seat belts of Rosa Lidia and Ruben Jimenez kept them safely inside the car. With serious injuries, they were both transported to Kern Medical Center. On November 1, 2023, the man was freed; however, on November 2, 2023, the wife passed away in the hospital. To assist the three family members injured in the crash, a GoFundMe page was made.
The driver lost control of the car when, according to the driver’s niece, her uncle “ran over a metal pole,” puncturing his rear tire. Three times, she wrote that the car had overturned.
