San Bernardino County, California (Victorville, CA) – On January 1, 2022, at midnight, a 42-year-old pedestrian man died at the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Hesperia Road in Victorville on New Year’s Day.
When authorities and medical workers arrived in the area, they declared the pedestrian dead at 12:04 a.m. The victim walked south across Bear Valley Road and was hit by a car heading west on Bear Valley Road. The operator of the car left the location but her car was subsequently discovered with her still inside.
Authorities confirmed the driver was Desirae Monique Corral and detained her on charges of driving while drunk resulting in death, hit and run resulting in death, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Corral is a 26-year-old from Victorville. Desirae Corral was arrested and is being detained at the High Desert Detention Center on a $250,000 bond. On January 4, 2022, she will have a preliminary hearing at a Victorville courthouse.
The victim was identified as Marcos Amay, from Hesperia. For a few hours, all eastbound and westbound lanes of Bear Valley Road and Northbound and Southbound lanes of Hesperia Road were temporarily closed.
